Is there a real-life Pokédex app for animals?
Yes. dobudex is an animal collecting app for iPhone and Android. Photograph an animal to get a pixel-art card with its species name, game stats and a signature trait.
Can I scan my cat or dog?
Yes. Pets count, along with wildlife such as birds, insects and reptiles. Identification is at species level, so a dog is recorded as Domestic Dog rather than a breed.
How accurate is the animal identification?
dobudex uses AI to suggest a species. An identification can be wrong, even when the app reports high confidence. Check an expert source when the identification matters. Failed identifications are refunded.
Is dobudex free?
It is free to download. New players get five scans, then five more after Apple or Google sign-in. Explorer includes up to 100 scans a month; all game features are also available free. Your local price and any eligible offer appear before purchase.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. You need an internet connection to identify an animal or retry a scan.
Is dobudex affiliated with Pokémon or Nintendo?
No. Pokémon and Pokédex describe the collecting idea. dobudex is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures or GAME FREAK.
